If you ain’t yet got the buzz, get someone to check for a pulse.

I start looking for clues as to what will be winning at the Festival in 2027 from tomorrow. The top trainers already know what they’ve got for next year and planned for 2027 a long time ago. The clues are everywhere and I just have to work them out….I’ll let you know when I have done that.

The Bumper generally gives off a host of those, especially when it comes to the Turners Novices Hurdle. Horses that finish front six in that race, and that are priced up at 8/1 or shorter, have seen 21 runners in the Turners produce six winners and seven place.

When it come to the Pertemps Hurdle it might pay to look at what Nicky Henderson is saddling. In the last five running’s of the race his have finished in the first five past the post and plenty of layers will pay first five places in that race. I’m seeing BOLD ENDEAVOUR 25/1 > 16/1….interesting. In that race look out for horses wearing tongue ties. Nine of the last 10 winners wore one and the one that failed was beaten just a short head.

Regarding the Pertemps Final, I should add that on February 17th I sent out a Newsletter regarding a horse to bet @ 10/1….SUPREMELY WEST….now just 4/1 having been smashed up this week….see separate article regarding that horse!

For such a competitive race, the County Hurdle has been relatively easy to solve. All you need to do is shortlist entries by Mullins or Skelton. Doing that for the last 11 years has seen you spot up a winner in 10 of them. Look out for handicap debutantes trained by Willie Mullins….there have only been four handicap debutantes winning this in the last 32 years, but he trained all four. Whichever Paul Townend selects is usually another decent clue…..money suggests that will be KARBAU….16/1 > 8/1.

The very last race of the Festival, The Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys Handicap….make a note of anything Gigginstown enters. They have sent 21 horses for the race, won four, sixes placed. If you find one of theirs trained by Gordon Elliott, make a special note…he has won four of the last nine running’s….two qualifiers HE CAN’T DANCE and WENDROCK.
